Tour de Crossings

A nice gentle 100km endurance ride today, touring the Brindies and riding over many creek and river crossings.

Went via Pierces Creek Pine Forrest and climbed to the 7 way intersection at the the top of the forrest at the North East end and jumped the gate into Namdagi. I've previously take Pipeline Road South toward Bulls Head, this time I took it North to explore another crossing option I hadn't seen before, I found a very very steep descent that was pretty slippery and dangerous to walk down, with my bike sideways infront of me to slow me down I spent about 10 mins inching my way carefull down, in hindsight I should have gone around, skipping 7 Ways and coming onto Pipeline Road further North.

The crossing looked quite shallow, but that was deceiving, it was about 2ft deep in the middle and my entire driveline was under water, as were my legs to half way up my shins and I pedalled through it! A free bike wash I guess :)

I was going to run upto Blue Range Hut and climb Mt Blundell and get onto Two Sticks Rd, but I felt a bit tired and my pace had been slow, so I was running out of time, I opted to skip that section, and instead cruised North on Bridabella Road, then Mountain Creek Road toward Yass, cutting East to Urrira Crossing, the land of the roadie.... road bike everywhere, and I'm sure they all though I was nute being out here on my FR bike :)

I pushing South East to Coppins Crossing and got good views of Stromlo on the way, it was nice out here and I see the attraction for the roadies of Canberra, nice views, but it was a pretty long climb from Uriarra to Coppins Crossing (especially on my heavy bike!), and the climb continued to Belconnen. There was also a lot of flies around here, I guess from the farms, good old sheep poo makes great fly love nests :)

I threw down a Red Bull and cranked the MP3 player the full blast for the cruise around Lake Ginenderra, then cruised upto Dave's for Jasmin's birthday party, a lovelly day out in the Spring weather!
