We arrived in Whistler today and I felt like a pilgrim in religeous nirvana, this place is incredible! It exceeds the hype, bigger and better than I could have dreamed.
200ks of trails cater to every type of rider and unlike the handful of riders you might see at one of Australia's top riding spots on a saturday, there are literally 1000's of riders here! Hundreds of shops and restaurants cater to our every need, it is heaven!
Adam went for the more technical north based runs like A River Runs Through It, while Kylie and had a go, but decided to leave him to it and went over to the Interprtive Forrest for a challenging but more old school XC ride, it was gorgeous, just the sort of riding I love and wonderful to share it with Kylie. A top day out! It also gave me the chance to sample a Clif Bar and my god, the Choc Almond Fudge one was as good as any bakery chocolate slice I've had, divine! Only 5g of fat and a good 44g of carbs with an excellent 11g of protein. Nutricianally these are better than anything you can buy in Aus, and the taste is just, wow! I have to get some of these to race on and to take home, by far the best energy bar I've tried and at $1.40 a bar, less than half the cost.
The scene here is massive; we're drinking local beer, brewed from nearby glacial waters, watching from our dinner table as plenty of awesome riders are showing each other up on the jumps on the hill, then chairlifting back up for another run, and it's after 8pm!
Another amazing thing about this place is that it is summery warm and everyone is cycling in shirts and shorts, yet you can still ski the upper runs, so there are skateboards cruising around with snowboards on their backs, heading for the slopes, both winter and summer sports simultaneously, awesome!
This place rocks, heaven on Earth! :)
