Ridge Road, Surf Beach

This is a hidden gem on the NSW South Coast, you can ride for 2 hours and not touch the same single track twice, there's plenty of great stuff too, fast flowing sweepers, north shore (all close to the ground and safe as houses) and little jumps. There's even a section of twisty technical stuff at the top that's got more switchbacks per square meter than anything else I've ridden, and as your up above the suburb of long beach, thetre's killer views of the beaches of Batemans Bay.

XC bikes are fine here, but free riders are more at home, with loads of jumps and trails that are just faster with bigger grins on a 6" rig. I love the use of the natural features here, like large log rides and jumps made from massive rocks that must have been lieing nearby.

The South Coast trail fairies have been busy, and the weirdest thing about this venue is that everytime I've been here, I've never seen another soul riding it, which seems a shame, if this ride was in Canberra, it would be crowded with riders, but maybe that's good thing; less riders means it stays in top nick longer, which it certainly has, there's no ruts or erosion going on, a testimate to the work of the trail builders.

So thanx to the guys that put this spot together, it's within a short drive of where I stay when I am on the coast, and I usually make the effort to get up here for another run.
