Neil, Warrick, Peter and myself hit the long 50km
run from Bruce Ridge to my house at 10am.

It
was a sweet ride, through Bruce Ridge, loosing Neil
only once :-) Then over the road into Black mountain
for a quick dash over some foot bridges and around
the bike paths to Stromlo, where we took the 5km
Dairy Farmers 'tunnel' run that has become my favourite
run in Canberra lately.

Again, we lost Neil,
but with technology (mobiles) on our side quickly
regrouped at the Stromlo Picnic grounds for a puncture
repair and refill of water, and some serious Snickers
munching :-)
We were half way and the day was getting
warm and we were all pretty hungry, so an unscheduled
stop at Rivett Shops (or what's left of them these
days) via Duffy Pines for some lunch and rest was the
go :-)

From there we cruised over Cooleman
Ridge finding the backway over to McQuoids and onwards
to Urambi hills, we were kicking ass, when it was
bound to happen....we took a wrong turn :-)
We took
a right towards the river and ended up with no
trail to follow and many a cow and bull to ride right
next too :-) Do'h.
We spotted the Hyperdome in the
distance and headed straight for it, taking a high speed
ride over some high grass and rocky terrain (lucky no
one got thrown over the handle bars!) and before we
knew it we were at the 'dome and pacing for my place
on the bike paths (oh the bliss after the trailess
place we had just been!). A bit of slip streaming to
keep the pace up and we were at my place by 3 for some
major showering, water skulling and munching sown on my
wifes awesome cooking.

All up a long run, but
even in the 30'C heat, was fairly easy and nearly all
downhill (only two climbs).
Nav was easy to Cooleman as
we had all been riding in these places before, but
from there to my place was a challenge, we'll now know
the faster way, and I want to extend through Pine
Island and Point Hut next time (which was the plan, but
we took that dodgy turn!).

Dist:
50km
Time: 5hrs
Rating: 10/10...awesome fun!
