The three amigo's (Neil,Simon and I) were the
only ones available for this 16km after work ride.
Rated as hard by Paul Ratcliff I was looking forward to
some exciting downhills and the like, but we were met
by mostly flat tracks with around 4 fast downhills
(challenging ones though as the tracks were rough). The last
of which was different in that it was grassy and
very very long, which was nice.
Most of the
downhills I have done are quite short, but this one went on
for ages :)
Most of the tracks were dirt, but
around 20% were grassy (freshly mown, but still grass)
which is what made this ride a fitnesss challenge as
grass is harder to push through than smooth dirt.
It
was a good run, but I didn't find it challenging
enough to go back again.
The highlights were the
sunset and some spectactuar bush that you just wouldn't
see without getting on a mountain bike. It is a part
of the ACT that is quite beautiful. The view back to
the city from the top of the range showed Canberra to
be a true bush capitol, all that could be seen was
Telstra Tower and bush, a reminder why I live here
:)
The pizza afterwards topped the night off!
