This place is to be avoided at all costs
:-)
Chris and I set off in the Feroza for what would be the
worst ride I have yet to do!
We tried the
section west of Paddys River Road and found it was
firetrail only work, no fun in the trees at all. The
firetrails were pretty lame lookin' too. So we headed in
the car over to the eastern section. The contour
lines on the map made it look pretty steep, but when we
tried to ride on it we found it was even steeper and
just plain unrideable. The descents were so steep
and slippery that stopping was not an option, they
were so hairy in places we had to walk, crawl and limp
our way to the bottom. Once at the bottom, we found
paddy's river, which is no more than a dribble these
days, and we had to either turn around and try and
climb our way back out or attempt to climb Bullen
Range, which is what we did. And what a hill....more
slippery and steep country where we put the bikes on our
back and slipped and slided our way to the top....two
steps for 1 back the whole way. The trails there are
covered with loose, small and sharp broken down rocks
that cause understeer and loss of traction and every
turn, real safe :-)
I think I'd rather pull my
own eyes out than return to this place
again!
