A full hours drive from my place meant an early
start to an awesome run. Setting off from home at 6am
it was still dark. As I got past Uriarra Crossing
and headed further west toward the Cotter I came
across a lively Kangaroo that decided to leap out in
front of me :) Luckily I made a quick lane change onto
the wrong side of the road and he brushed by rear
passenger quarter panel, surviving his 120km/h encounter
with a 700kg lump of steel and glass. The car showed
no damage apart from a small amount of hair he left
has he brushed past. Phew :)

Another 20kms
down the road and the sun was streaming onto the
mountains above the car park at Condor Creek.

When
the rest of the lads arrived we drove three cars to
the top of the mountain (a 10km drive) and left mine
at the bottom for later.

From the top we
followed a fairly rocky but extremely fast downhill that
lasted for 20kms back to my car at the creek crossing.
There was two climbs that where no longer than 100m and
five creek crossings with beds from rock to pebble to
a really muddy last one! My feet and legs were
wet.

There was an excellent section on along the side of the
mountain that had great views over the valley below.
Beautiful....

All in all a truely awesome ride through some lush
bush, but the speed and amount of jumps, rocks and
obstacles caused 5 pinch flats for me!
Thank god I had a
lot of patches!! :)

If you want to do this
ride, it a 5 hour trip counting all the driving and
picking up cars from the top afterwards, but it worth it
for 30kms for excellent downhill adventure! oh yeah,
don't forget your puncture kit/s :)

Dist:
20km
Time: 5 hours including driving (rode for 2hrs)
