Mt Stromlo

The trunk trail is the first stage of what will be massive track development at Canberra's high profile, big dollar, who-har MTB park. There's a lot of potential here, but some serious downsides; The trail is slippery and sandy and tree's are sparse, mostly 4ft high pine saplings placed in the apex of a corner, so when you lean into to a corner and try and rail it, if the slippery sandy surface doesn't cause a crash, the tree in the apex will give you a smack to the face, or better, a grab of your inside handle bar ;)

This has been both funny and annoying on our last few trips here, but on my most recent trip, it cost me dearly, coming around a tight left hander I was finding nice flow when the tree sapling growing in the apex of the corner grabbed my bars and pulled me tighter in the turn, nothing new for stromlo, but this time there was a big rock on the inside of the turn, I couldn't see it as the apex tree was blocking the view... suffice it to say, my bike stopped, I didn't, and the pool of blood left of the trail was substansial, my nose looks like a rugby players now :)

Use this venue with caution :)
