Once again, as per last year, Tumut laid on the rain, this time with a little sprinkle in lap 2 as a warning, then full on icy cold rain from lap 3 on...
The rain wasn't a problem though, and I was doing much better than last year, 3 minutes (10%) faster lap times and having an absolute ball, when sadly, the cold got the best of me. I was freezing in a major way, the wet clothes meant that riding at speed brought on wind chill, and skin temperature around 0'C, or below on faster sections, this was tolerable for an hour or so, but by the final hour of the race, I had lost my fight with staying warm enough to continue, and just shivered my way around the course, unable to change gears with frozen hands, limping my way to the finish.
I ended up 24th place, about the same as last year. If I'd held it together, I would have beaten last years result, oh well, laps 1-5 were killer fun, it's a shame I lost it for the last two laps, but that's the way the cookie crumbles, mmm, cookies :P
Kylie and Adam on the other hand had a great race, and pulled 3rd place in mixed pairs, well done guys!!!
